The Trinity River Authority of Texas is a conservation and reclamation district that provides water and wastewater treatment, along with recreation and reservoir facilities, within the nearly 18,000-square-mile Trinity River basin. TRA focuses on treating drinking water to the highest standards and removing nearly all pollutants from wastewater. The organization maintains a master plan for basin-wide development and serves as a conduit for tax-exempt financing for municipal projects and as a local sponsor for federal water projects. TRA operates as an independent financial entity and does not receive tax revenues or appropriations.
